Hypnotherapy Treatments


1. Female health issues

Achieving and maintaining optimum health for our mind and body requires a delicate balance of nutrition, physical activity, rest and relaxation. Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness techniques can be used to support this balance to help with a range of female specific health issues. In addition to Heathers nursing career and Hypnotherapy training, she has undertaken enhanced professional development in pain management, menopause support and hypnobirthing. Heather also has established working links with St Marys Women’s’ hospital in Manchester, where she voluntarily chairs and facilitates a support group for women with Vulval pain issues. Heather has experience of treating women with a range of gynaecological issues including fertility issues, pregnancy loss, menopause, Vulvodynia, Lichen sclerosis, endometriosis and pudendal neuralgia.


2. Pain

There is increasing understanding about the mind body connection when considering how to manage pain.

This does not mean that the pain is "in your head' or 'doesn't exist', but instead means that our amazing and powerful brains have the ability to affect our experience of pain.
We all know that if we hold ourselves tense, then feelings of pain/discomfort can be amplified. Equally when we are able to fully relax, we can reduce the intensity of the pain sensation.
In hypnotherapy, we can allow our conscious minds to relax, whilst our subconscious minds are alert, responsive and able to make any changes that are needed.
Hypnotherapy can be used in a variety of ways to help manage and reduce pain and at Cheshire Bridge Hypnotherapy all work is tailored to meet individuals needs.

3. Chronic Pelvic Pain

Anybody who has experienced chronic pelvic pain will be well aware of the impact that this can have on peoples lives. Pelvic pain can affect our ability to work, exercise, have sexual intercourse or even just to sit/walk comfortably.
In recent years, however, there has been increased understanding of the condition and the development of treatment options that can help, including physiotherapy, osteopathy, medications and supportive therapies (eg hypnotherapy, CBT, mindfulness). Hypnotherapy can work particularly well in conjunction with other therapies such as physiotherapy.
Heather also currently chairs and facilitates a female pelvic pain support group at St Mary’s hospital in Manchester and sees patients with a variety of gynaecological issues including menopause, Vulvodynia, lichen sclerosis, pudendal neuralgia, endometriosis and fertility issues. Heather is also a registered specialist Hypnotherapist in chronic pain management and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
There is growing awareness of the 'mind-body' connection with pain and how hypnotherapy may be used to calm the nervous system and reduce pain to improve the therapeutic outcome.


4. Autoimmune Disorders

Autoimmune disorders can be complex and have far reaching implications on peoples lives. It can sometimes take a long time to get a full diagnosis, as there can be many aspects requiring consultation with different specialists. This can leave people feeling confused, exhausted, frightened and often in a lot of pain.
Autoimmune disorders are not always obviously visible to others and are therefore difficult for outsiders to understand, this can make the individual feel isolated and alone. Therapies, such as hypnotherapy, however, have great potential to improve the situation.
We do not and cannot ever claim to be able to cure autoimmune disease. What we can provide is the opportunity for you to access the amazing power of your own inner resources to enable you to cope with the changes and deal with the challenges.
Hypnotherapy can be used in a variety of ways for Autoimmune disorders. This can be tailored to your individual needs, but may include therapy to assist with pain management, drug side effects,symptom control and help with depression or anxiety.


5. Stress & Anxiety

Unwanted stress can have major demands on our bodies, both physically and psychologically. It is important to find positive ways of managing stress and hypnotherapy can provide a useful tool in dealing with stress and its unwanted effects.

This may manifest in a variety of behaviours including irritability, tearfulness, reluctance to study or go to school, low self esteem and becoming withdrawn. At Cheshire Bridge Hypnotherapy, we understand that exams can be a source of pressure and stress for your child and family. We can help by using a combination of hypnotherapy and mindfulness techniques to improve a sense of calmness, self confidence, self belief and positivity. We have experience in helping young people at all different stages such as SAT's, GCSE's, A'levels, Music/Dance exams & Driving tests.


7. Health

Hypnotherapy is increasingly being recognised as playing a positive role in the treatment of a variety of conditions including: IBS, fertility issues, menopausal symptoms, dermatology issues, autoimmune disorders and management of pain.

The benefit of hypnotherapy is that it can be used alongside conventional medical treatments with no negative side effects. Hypnotherapy can also be safely used during pregnancy.


8. Fears & Phobias

Hypnotherapy has a long standing reputation for helping people to overcome their fears/phobias. The nature and type of fear/phobia are very personal to the individual but common ones may include Flying, Needles, Spiders, open or enclosed areas etc.


9. Unwanted Behaviours

Unwanted behaviours are those habits/behaviours that we no longer want or those that serve us no useful purpose. Hypnotherapy can be beneficial in enabling us to let these go. Examples being Smoking, Over eating, Nail biting, Teeth grinding.
